With decades of experience in cinematography for film and television production, Yinka Edward stands as a seasoned professional in the industry. He obtained his Master of Arts degree in Film and Television Production with a specialization in Cinematography from the prestigious National Film and Television School (NFTS) in England.

Throughout his career, Yinka has worked with various directors, including John Akomfrah (CBE), Biyi Bandele, Kunle Afolayan, Izu Ojukwu, Genevieve Nnaji, Ethosheia Hylton and others. His portfolio showcases a rich diversity of projects, from the BAFTA award-winning animation A Love Story to Netflix originals like The Black Book and Lionheart. He also shot episodes of the Studio Lambert and BBC Three series Boarders. Notably, The Milkmaid, Nigeria’s submission for the 2021 Oscar’s Best Foreign Language Film category, reflects his breadth of work. Additionally, he served as the showrunner and Director of Photography for the ShowMax original series Crime and Justice Lagos, which clinched the 2023 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award for Best Series. He was second unit DoP on the Oscar winning production Belfast and his other credits include the shorts  Daylight Rules and Dolapo is fine.

Yinka’s expertise extends beyond cinematography, encompassing camera operation, production logistics, and team coordination. His adeptness in translating creative concepts into captivating visuals and managing budgets underscores his professionalism and commitment to his craft. His achievements include nominations for Best Cinematography at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) for his contributions to projects like Crime and Justice Lagos, October 1, 76, and 93 Days. And his work on The Figurine earned him the Best Cinematography award at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
